The Fairway Cooperative House (located a few blocks from Mackey Arena) is a great place for Purdue students who want to live in a Christian environment instead of traditional dorm housing. We are looking for Christian men who are planning to attend Purdue University in the fall of 2012. Space is limited. The selection process ends Feb 4, 2012.

What is Recruitment?
Recruitment is the new member selection process that occurs in conjunction with the entire cooperative system. This year, recruitment takes place on the Saturdays of January 28th and February 4th. During recruitment, you will have the opportunity to visit each house within the cooperative system, learn more about the system as a whole, and interview with members of Fairway. If you wish to interview with other houses as well, you can do so at this time. Following recruitment, houses send out bids to the recruitees they choose.
How Does Recruitment Work?
On one of the recruitment days (January 28th and February 4th), you will come to the Purdue campus in the morning for a pre-recruitment meeting. There are always two recruitment Saturday’s, but you choose the one that works best for you. It is recommended that parents come with the students. After the initial meeting, students will be broken into smaller groups. Each small group will travel together to the different men’s cooperatives. At each house, the members will introduce themselves and give tours of their house. When the alotted time is up, the group will move on to the next house. This process will continue until each group has visited all of the houses.
After this is done, every group will be brought to Armstrong Hall. At this time you are able to sign up to interview with Fairway and other houses if they are interested. You will be called back one at a time for interviews with a group of current Fairway members. Interviews usually last 10 to 15 minutes. Once you are done interviewing you are free to leave.
Following the second day of recruiting, Fairway will review and decide who they want to offer “bids” to. If you receive a bid from Fairway and accept it, you are a member of next year’s pledge class!
Why Fairway?
Fairway is a Christian house that is dedicated to providing an alcohol free, Christian atmosphere for its members. There are continual events such as devotionals and small groups that are designed to keep members accountable and also help them grow in their walk with Christ. We are looking for Christian men who are dedicated to their faith and want to grow in their walk with Christ.
Academic success is a top priority at Fairway. During the pledge semester, new members are required to study several hours per week and report it to the active member in charge. This is done to ensure that new members are taking time to focus on their academics. We are looking for men who are committed to succeeding academically and maintain a strong GPA.
Fairway offers young men the opportunity to be involved in a brotherhood that will last far past college. Within the first few weeks new members make friends with 50 some guys that are living in the house. There are also opportunites to meet other men and women on campus with the varitey of socials and parties that Fairway takes part in throughout the year. Fairway is also involved in dozens of intramural sports throughout the year. Members of the house can play on any Fairway intramural team they choose.
What about Pledgeship?
Pledgeship is the process by which each new member learns about Fairway, our purpose and history, and builds relationships with active members in the house. During pledgeship new members are given certain house projects they must complete as a group and individually, attend study tables, have socials with women’s houses, and practice and perform serenades to represent Fairway in the pledge talent show at the end of pledgeship. These activities are just a portion of pledgeship and are designed to build community among pledges and active members. Pledgeship begins when you move into the house and is scheduled to last 8 to 12 weeks during the fall semester. Pledgeship is a challenging but rewarding experience.

"Fairway has helped me above all stay close to God during college. The brotherhood formed at Fairway is invaluable. I went in knowing there were going to be a lot of really cool people and by the time I got done with pledgeship I had 53 brothers. Everyone in the house becomes your best friends and like I mentioned already, your brothers."
"I am a fairly shy person so when I came to Purdue as a freshman I was apprehensive about making close friends and fitting in. If you are shy or in any way concerned about fitting in I would encourage you to apply to Fairway because you will make close friends here. I truly can't express enough the value of the friendships that I have been able to make here and I wouldn't do my college career any differently."
